Job description

The Opportunity

PAE is looking for an experienced and highly capable Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer in our New York office to provide advanced technical leadership and guide project teams through all phases of design. The Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer will oversee mechanical engineering project delivery, ensuring work is completed on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with quality and industry standards. The role includes leading the preparation of engineering deliverables (calculations, narratives, drawings, and specifications) and coordinating between internal teams, external partners, and clients. You will apply sound engineering judgment to carry projects from conceptual design through construction administration, assemble and manage project teams, develop detailed workplans, oversee equipment selection and engineering calculations, perform site visits and reporting, and mentor staff. You will contribute to continuous improvement by updating standards, specifications, and processes and uphold the project quality management plan (QMP).

What You'll Do
  • Project team leadership and discipline management, ensuring on-time project delivery within budget
  • Prepare deliverables including narratives, calculations, drawings and specifications
  • Attend client meetings and coordinate between external and internal project teams
  • Apply engineering judgment, techniques, and procedures from concepts through construction
  • Proficient in mechanical system design, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Energy Modeling
  • Assemble effective project teams
  • Develop project workplans, tasks and assignments for the team
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary work and ensure compliance with building codes and mechanical standards
  • Oversee engineering calculations and equipment selection
  • Perform site visits and issue reports
  • Provide training, guidance and mentorship for staff
  • Update master specifications and standards and improve company processes
  • Develop client relationships and manage quality management plan application
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in the relevant discipline
  • Professional credential (e.g., PE)
