Job summary

JPMorganChase in Columbus, OH is seeking a Senior Lead Infrastructure Engineer to own batch scheduling and automation initiatives across CA-7, Control-M, and ZEKE, driving reliability and modernization in a large enterprise.

The role emphasizes hands-on scripting in REXX and Python, strong problem-solving, and collaboration with security and operations teams to deliver scalable, auditable solutions in a dynamic financial-services environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in mainframe systems programming/operations in an enterprise environment.
• Hands-on with CA-7, Control-M, and ZEKE.
• Strong coding/scripting in REXX and/or Python with automation deliverables.
• Strong troubleshooting across batch execution lifecycle (JCL errors, dataset/space issues, dependencies).
• Working knowledge of JCL, JES, catalogs/datasets, SMP/E concepts and operational controls.
• Experience with change management, incident/problem management, and on-call in regulated environments.
• Excellent communication skills translating complex tech issues to operational guidance.
• Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and multi-cloud capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and support batch scheduling platforms (CA-7, Control-M, ZEKE) including calendars, workloads, dependencies, SLA management, and automation.
• Design and implement batch workload standards, governance, and operational controls (naming, restart/recovery, notifications, escalation).
• Build automation using REXX and/or Python to streamline operations (dataset management, job orchestration, health checks, runbooks).
• Diagnose batch failures, bottlenecks, and scheduling conflicts; perform root-cause analysis and preventive improvements.
• Integrate scheduling and automation with enterprise tooling (monitoring/alerting, ticketing, change management, audit evidence).
• Drive mainframe modernization initiatives, including API enablement, workflow standardization, and automation-first practices.
• Apply AI-assisted approaches to improve productivity and reliability, ensuring outputs are validated and compliant.
• Create and maintain documentation: procedures, automation code, runbooks, diagrams, knowledge base articles.
• Use enterprise-auth AI capabilities to accelerate analysis of complex signals and document mitigation options with proper handling of sensitive data.
• Lead thought leadership within the product line and promote reuse-first AI practices across delivery and automation.
