WSP is currently initiating a search for a Professional Wetland Scientist / Project Manager in New England. This position will be located in our Boston office. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and support Natural Resource and Permitting projects for our Transportation and Infrastructure business.

Job Description

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Professional Wetland Scientist / Project Manager in New England. This position will be located in our Boston office. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and support Natural Resource and Permitting projects for our Transportation and Infrastructure business.

The primary focus for this Professional Wetlands Scientist PM will be to lead projects in support of infrastructure development including Highway, Rail, Renewable Energy, and electric transmission line and substation routing and siting in New England and adjacent states. The ideal candidate will have an established and successful history of experience in New England State and Federal permitting and will be a collaborative and responsive professional with strong communication and organizational skills.

Your Impact

  • Natural resource and environmental permitting subject matter expert
  • Managing wetland and natural resource studies, analyses, and associated reports
  • Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams including engineers, attorneys, planners, permitting and environmental specialists, and real estate experts
  • Mentoring staff to support their growth and professional development
  • Developing strategies for public involvement programs; attending and participating in open houses, public meetings, and public hearings
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, conduct, and adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Natural Sciences or Ecology, Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, Geography, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Ten+ years of experience managing environmental permitting and planning projects for infrastructure programs
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior project members, with strict QA/QC adherence
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal skills for effective communication at all organizational levels
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with New England State and USACE agency personnel and decision-makers
  • Experience with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District
  • Experience in preparing proposals, presentations, and price structuring
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze data and identify solutions
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and adherence to policies
  • Flexibility to various schedules and ability to prioritize responsibilities under pressure
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs
