Job summary
Intralox is seeking an Advanced Research & Development-Lead Engineer to act as the technical anchor for a cross-functional team in Baltimore. You will lead the architecture from concept to validated prototypes, translating ambiguous customer needs into concrete, testable requirements, and guiding rapid prototyping to customer-ready solutions.
The ideal candidate brings breadth across mechanical, controls, and software, with experience in industrial automation and a proven track record of leading
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of engineering and product development experience leading design and development of complex electromechanical or automation systems.
- Breadth across mechanical design, controls, and software-enabled automation with system-architect role.
- Experience in industrial automation, logistics, or material handling; exposure to AI/robotics is a plus.
- Ability to translate ambiguous needs into validated prototypes and learn quickly.
Responsibilities
- Turn early-stage ambiguity into technical clarity for rapid development.
- Define technical requirements grounded in real customer problems.
- Frame unknowns and plot a development path to resolve them.
- Mentor engineers and align development with the technology roadmap.
- Lead rapid prototyping and fieldable prototypes for customer sites.
- Own system architecture across mechanical, controls, and software domains.
