Job summary

Ramboll is seeking an experienced Environmental Geologist to join our Environment & Health team in a hybrid role based in Princeton, NJ or Blue Bell, PA. You will lead site investigations and remediation projects across NJ, PA, and NY while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with engineers, regulators, and clients.

The role requires 7+ years of geology experience, a PG license or progress toward it, and OSHA HAZWOPER certification, with strong regulatory knowledge and proficiency in MS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or related field and 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Possession, eligibility, or progress toward PG license and/or LSRP.
• 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification and an 8-hour refresher; additional safety trainings are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of federal, PA, NJ, NY environmental and site remediation regulations and their application to projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee geologic and site investigations including RI, Feasibility Studies, Remedial Designs, and post-remediation OM&M; plan drilling methods and investigation techniques.
• Oversee field programs and data evaluation; manage activities related to scope, schedule, and budget.
• Serve as a technical contact for clients and stakeholders; present findings and recommendations to regulators and clients.
• Develop scopes of work and budgets; support invoicing and project closeout.

Your new role

We invite you to bring your environmental consulting experience into play as you support provide technical and project leadership for environmental investigation and remediation projects in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Metropolitan areas. In this position, the selected candidate will lead and support multidisciplinary teams working closely with Professional Engineers (PEs), Professional Geologists (PGs), Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs) and other technical specialists.

As a senior member of the team, you will apply your technical expertise and professional judgment to guide site investigation and remediation strategies, oversee field programs and data evaluation, prepare and review technical deliverables, and support regulatory and client communications. You will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level staff while helping ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

The position provides opportunities to work on a diverse range of projects involving, geologic and environmental investigations, conceptual site model development, remedial strategy and design, data evaluation and modelling, regulatory compliance and technical reporting.

Your key tasks and responsibilities for this role will be:

• Lead and oversee geologic and site investigations, including Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Remedial Designs, Remedial Actions, and post-remediation OM&M; plan and oversee various drilling methodologies and investigation techniques, including monitoring well installations, packer testing, groundwater sampling, and vapor intrusion investigations.
• Oversee and review detailed and accurate field and project documentation; manage and successfully track field and project activities related to scope, schedule, and budget.
• Serve as a key technical point of contact for clients and project stakeholders, communicating investigation findings, technical recommendations, project status, and emerging issues; participate in client meetings and work collaboratively with LSRP and technical leads to develop practical solutions that meet project and client objectives.
• Coordinate the development and finalization through final submission of technical documents, including regulatory reports, work plans, and biennial remedial action protectiveness submittals, pursuant to regulatory requirements; independently develop scopes of work and budgetary cost estimates and support initial project setup, invoicing, and project closeout.
• Proactively communicate change management needs during project execution; provide technical guidance and mentorship to early-career and mid-level Geological Scientists and contribute to the development of team capabilities and technical best practices.

About you

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Geological Science, Environmental Science, or related field, with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Possession, eligibility, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining, a PG license and/or LSRP.
• At a minimum, 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification and up-to-date 8-hour refresher; additional OSHA health and safety training and certifications are a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of federal, PA, NJ, and NY environmental and site remediation regulations, with demonstrated experience applying regulatory requirements to investigation and remediation projects.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams, managing technical tasks, and communicating technical findings and recommendations to clients, regulators, and other project stakeholders; strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
