Job summary

Ramboll Group A/S in Blue Bell, PA or Princeton, NJ is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to lead environmental investigations and remediation projects across the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York Metropolitan areas.

You will guide site strategies, oversee field programs, review technical deliverables, and support regulatory and client communications while mentoring junior staff and ensuring projects meet regulatory and safety standards.

Qualifications

Your new role

We invite you to bring your Environmental Engineering experience into play as you provide technical and project leadership for environmental investigation and remediation projects in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York Metropolitan areas. In this position, the selected candidate will lead and support multidisciplinary teams working closely with Professional Engineers (PEs), Professional Geologists (PGs), Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs) and other technical specialists.

As a senior member of the team, you will apply your technical expertise and professional judgment to guide site investigation and remediation strategies, oversee field programs and data evaluation, prepare and review technical deliverables, and support regulatory and client communications. You will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level staff while helping ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

The position provides opportunities to work on a diverse range of projects involving, geologic and environmental investigations, conceptual site model development, remedial strategy and design, data evaluation and modelling, regulatory compliance and technical reporting.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Lead/oversee engineering tasks for key projects/programs, including Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Remedial Designs/Actions, and post-remediation OM&M; preferred candidate will have experience with planning and overseeing Pre-Design Investigations/remediation (excavation, system installation, injections).
• Provide engineering support for contaminated soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater remediation, including excavation, capping, containment, in-situ/ex-situ treatment, and subsurface vapor mitigation.
• Oversee/review field and project documentation and track scope, schedule, and budget; independently develop scopes of work, cost estimates, project setup, invoicing, and closeout.
• Serve as a key technical client/stakeholder contact; communicate findings, recommendations, project status, and emerging issues; participate in client meetings and collaborate with LSRPs/technical leads to develop practical solutions.
• Coordinate development and finalization of technical/regulatory documents (reports, work plans, remedial designs/specifications, construction completion reports, permits) pursuant to regulatory requirements (NJ ARRCS); mentor Early-Career/Mid-Level Engineers and support development of team capabilities and technical best practices.

About you

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, Geoenvironmental or Chemical Engineering and 7+ years of relevant experience
• Possession, eligibility or demonstrated progress toward obtaining Professional Engineer and/or LSRP license
• Developing PM, technical and client relationship building capabilities
• Strong working knowledge of NJDEP regulations including ISRA, TRSR and ARRCS, and technical guidance. Familiarity with other local, State (e.g., PADEP, NYSDEC) and federal (USEPA) agencies/regulations a plus
• Experience with conventional and innovative remediation technologies, as well as developing and implementing Pre-Design Investigations and Remedial Design documents (regulatory and technical/contractual)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite includingexperience using these tools for technical reporting, data evaluation, project management, and client presentations
• 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification and up to date 8-hour refresher; OSHA supervisor certification a plus

• Ability to travel to work locations, typically in PA, NJ, and NY. Occasional overnight travel may be required; however, the position is primarily office-based
