Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Lead AI Engineer for GenAI Platform Services: Agentic Systems in San Francisco. You will design, build, and scale AI-powered products with cross-functional teams, focusing on responsible and reliable AI systems in banking.

You will work with foundation model training, LLM inference, guardrails, observability, and emerging AI techniques, leveraging AWS, HuggingFace, PyTorch, and VectorDBs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in a relevant field with required years of experience.
• Strong programming experience in Python/Go/Scala/Java.
• Experience deploying AI/ML systems at scale and leading teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that change how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training, LLM inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch, and more.
• Invent state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance, cost, latency, throughput for large-scale production AI systems.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.
