Job summary

Onterris in New Orleans seeks a Senior LDAR Field Technician to inspect oil and gas facilities, identify hydrocarbon leaks, and document data in field reports.

You will lead inspections when needed, support safety meetings, calibrate equipment, and use detectors under supervision while coordinating GPS-guided visits. The role requires 12-hour day shifts, a valid driver’s license, and outdoor work in all weather.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate Oil & Gas industry experience required.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office; Android OS experience.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to work 12-hour day shifts.
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering tech or related field preferred; related LDAR experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating and navigating to facilities with maps and GPS.
  • Perform and document field inspections as team lead or solo, safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in safety meetings and promote safety culture.
  • Calibrate and maintain equipment.
  • Use detection/measurement technologies under supervision.
  • Collect and record emission data.
  • Prepare field reports.

A Day in the Life

As a Senior LDAR Field Technician, you'll be responsible for performing inspections on various types of facilities in the Oil and Gas Industry to identify and quantify hydrocarbon gas leaks and vents.

The compensation range for this role is $25-28/hr. commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

To thrive in this role, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Assisting in coordinating and navigating to various facilities with maps and GPS

  • Perform and document field inspections as a leader of a team and/or independently accurately, safely and efficiently

  • Assist in safety meetings and be a leader in the safety culture

  • Helping to calibrate and maintain equipment

  • Using various detection and measurement technologies under the supervision of the Team Lead

  • Collecting and recording emission data

  • Preparing field reports as required

Your Expertise and Skills

  • Intermediate experience in Oil and Gas industry (preference given to candidates with natural gas processing/transmission facility experience)

  • Effective computer skills (Excel and Microsoft Office are essential) and proficiency with Android OS

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (days only)

  • Valid driver's license

  • Preference will be given to candidates with an associate or bachelor's degree in engineering technology or applicable technical degree/diploma; related work experience in hydrocarbon detection and measurement, LDAR, instrumentation or stack emission testing or a mechanical background are also preferred, but not required

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and/or stand while handling/carrying various technical equipment for extended periods of time

  • Comfortable occasionally working at heights in a safe manner

  • Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted

  • Comfortable working outside in all-weather elements

  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
