Job summary

Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) seeks a counselor to provide interviews, counseling, and direct therapy to patients at our Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare campus in Columbus. You will conduct screenings, manage treatment plans, document progress, and coordinate referrals to community resources with the treatment team.

The role requires a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor credential, a valid driver’s license, and compliance with background checks and drug screening.

Qualifications

• Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor credential recognized by Ohio licensing authority.
• Valid driver's license.
• Background check and urinalysis may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews and provide counseling services to alcohol and other drug dependent patients/clients.
• Facilitate screening from intake to discharge.
• Deliver direct services including group and individual therapy.
• Perform case management and crisis intervention.
• Develop client treatment plans and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Monitor progress and maintain clinical documentation.
• Refer clients to community programs and resources, including AA/NA.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and therapy-based activities.
• Complete and maintain accurate reports and documentation.
• Adhere to Joint Commission, ODBH and COBH requirements.
• Attend trainings and staff meetings as required.
