This hands-on role combines laser design, optical modeling, hardware development, and mentorship of engineering teams. The position focuses on designing solid-state and DPSS laser systems, optimizing architectures, and ensuring high-performance, reliable operation for demanding applications in aerospace and defense.

Qualifications

• Senior-level laser systems experience and leadership demonstrated in past roles.
• Hands-on design and development of solid-state and DPSS laser hardware.
• Experience with laser architectures (MOPA, OPO/OPA, oscillator, narrow-linewidth).
• Strong background in optical modeling and system performance analysis using Zemax.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of solid-state and DPSS laser systems
• Develop MOPA, OPO/OPA, oscillator, and narrow-linewidth laser architectures
• Perform laser cavity, gain, thermal, and system performance modeling
• Develop and optimize nonlinear optics and frequency conversion including SHG and THG
• Support LIDAR transmitter and high-energy/pulsed laser development
• Perform optical modeling and tolerance analysis using Zemax
• Lead technical reviews, troubleshoot design challenges, and address program risks
• Guide laser hardware through integration, testing, and qualification
