Leonardo Electronics US Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Optical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and development of advanced optical systems for high-power laser applications. You will work with customers and cross-functional teams to validate feasibility and drive technical decisions.

The role requires a BS in Optics (MS/PhD preferred) with 7+ years in optical design, tolerance analysis, and assembly. ITAR compliance and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Optics (MS/PhD preferred) with at least 7 years’ experience.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in design, manufacture, and assembly of optical systems.
• ITAR requires U.S. person status for applicants.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, analysis, and development of advanced optical systems for high‑power laser applications.
• Interact with customers to determine optical feasibility against specifications.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to achieve technical feasibility.
• Develop assembly and test methods for prototype and volume manufacturing.
• Prepare test reports with coherent combining efficiency, M^2, and phase stability.
