Job summary

Lake Air Products in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead and improve production processes in our precision sheet-metal facilities, with a focus on laser cutting optimization, programming, and tooling.

You will develop work instructions, support new product introductions, drive root-cause analysis, and collaborate with operators, engineering, and quality to ensure high throughput and first-pass quality.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years hands-on manufacturing engineering experience in metals fabrication or similar
• Understanding fabrication processes: laser cutting, press brake forming, welding, finishing
• Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing documentation
• Expert-level SolidWorks experience (parts, assemblies, drawings, sheet-metal modules)

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for fabrication processes including laser cutting, forming, welding, assembly, and finishing
• Implement process improvements to reduce scrap and increase throughput
• Develop work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures
• Support new product introductions and production ramps
• Drive root-cause analysis and corrective action initiatives
• Work closely with machine operators to optimize daily performance and troubleshoot issues
• Program, operate, and troubleshoot Mitsubishi fiber laser systems using Accufab and Ncell
• Develop and maintain laser cut programs, nesting strategies, and machine parameters
• Create and modify 3D CAD models and 2D production drawings in SolidWorks
• Support DFM/DFA with engineering, quality, and production teams
