Corning seeks a Senior Laser Process Development Engineer/Scientist to drive early-stage laser-process development and optical solutions. You will design systems, build prototype stations, and translate laboratory innovations into scalable, manufacturing-ready capabilities for global deployment.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in a photonics-related field.
• 5+ years of laser processing, optics, or photonics experience.
• Knowledge of laser theory and platforms.
• Knowledge of optical theory and light propagation.
• Hands-on lab experience building/operating lab setups.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize laser-based processes for manufacturing-ready capability.
• Build, refine, and troubleshoot prototype stations; design optical systems for laser-material studies.
• Plan and execute structured experiments to establish process windows; apply DOE, root-cause analysis, and SPC.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D and engineering to translate lab work into scalable processes.
• Document technical work and capture IP through reports and guidelines.
