Job summary

Corning is seeking a Senior Laser Process Development Engineer/Scientist to lead early-stage development of advanced laser processes and optical solutions. You will design systems, build prototype stations, and translate lab innovations into scalable, manufacturing-ready capabilities.

The role targets engineers/scientists with hands-on laser processing or photonics experience and a strong background in optical theory, DOE, and data analysis.

Qualifications

Graduate degree with hands-on laser/process development experience.
5+ years in laser processing, optics, or photonics development.
Strong knowledge of laser theory and light-material interactions.
Experience designing optical systems and DOE/SPC methods.
Ability to translate laboratory work into scalable manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize laser-based processes for manufacturing deployment.
Build and troubleshoot prototype stations and optical systems.
Plan experiments to establish process windows and analyze data with DOE/SPC.
Collaborate with R&D and engineering to scale lab work.
Document work and contribute to IP through reports and guidelines.
