Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space Ignite ACES Directorate seeks a senior specialist to advance electro-optics and directed energy capabilities, including laser radar and hardware transitions for national security applications.

The role emphasizes optical design, modeling, system integration, and field demonstrations, with a requirement for extensive experience and active Top Secret clearance readiness.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related STEM field required.
• Ten or more years of experience in the design of laser and nonlinear optical systems and devices.
• Eight or more years of experience in modeling and analysis of pulsed solid-state lasers and/or nonlinear optical frequency conversion.
• Significant experience in simulations of laser physics and/or quantum opto-electronics, diffractive beam propagation, thermo-optic effects and parametric optical processes.
• Strong knowledge of laser and optical physics.
• U.S. citizenship and willingness/ability to obtain/retain a Top Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Selection of laser and/or nonlinear optical technologies.
• Design of laser and nonlinear optical systems and devices.
• Evaluation of predicted performance through computational modeling and analysis.
• Laboratory testing and experimental demonstration.
• Prototype development.
• System analysis and integration.
• Field demonstration.
• Leadership of and/or contribution to summary reports, oral presentations, and/or technical proposals.
