Job summary

System One, Inc. in Chattanooga, TN seeks a Large Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer III to lead complex fabrication projects onsite.

You will define material, fabrication, inspection, and testing requirements from customer PO/specs and coordinate with production planning. Responsibilities include planning heavy lifts for large weldments, creating BOMs and weld maps, developing test plans, and interfacing with vendors and customer engineering groups.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Welding or related field.
• 5+ years supporting weldments >5 tons or >20 ft.
• Ownership of weld sequence planning and distortion control.
• Experience planning heavy lifts, rigging plans and load paths.
• Proficient in reading technical specs, GD&T and weld symbols.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical aspects of complex manufacturing projects from PO receipt to shipment.
• Determine material, fabrication, inspection, and testing requirements from PO/specs.
• Create Nuclear Commercial Grade Dedication Plans and Technical Evaluations.
• Interface with production planning on optimal machining/manufacturing approach.
• Plan fabrication sequences, fixturing, and manage heavy lifts for large weldments.
• Create BOMs, routing docs, weld maps, inspection and test reports.
• Develop test plans and write test reports (pressure, load, electrical, etc.).
• Provide purchasing requirements to buyers based on drawings/specs.
• Select and manage outside vendors; frequent technical communications with teams.
• CAD modeling/drafting and fixture design to support projects.
