Job summary

KBR, Inc seeks a Senior Geometric Calibration Engineer to support Landsat calibration/validation activities. The role focuses on sensor geometry, calibration, and data quality for Landsat 1-9, with responsibilities spanning tool development, data characterization, and results presentation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, System Characterization, Signal Processing, System Calibration, Photogrammetry, Geodesy, Mathematics, or Satellite Systems
• 10+ years of progressive experience in an engineering role

Responsibilities

• Ensure Landsat data geometry is continually monitored, measured, and calibrated
• Develop and verify tools and algorithms for Landsat data and instrument calibrations
• Characterize geometric performance of Landsat instruments to meet geometric requirements
• Report on Landsat data quality as required
• Present Landsat geometry status at meetings and updates for Landsat Program Management
• Answer user services questions regarding Landsat data
• Process data for public relations requests from USGS Project Management
• Provide geometric data quality expertise to Landsat Cal/Val anomaly resolution teams
• Develop and verify tools/algorithms and perform qualitative analysis to improve Landsat data products
• Write and publish white papers and journal articles as needed
• Present analysis results at professional conferences/workshops
• Participate in peer reviews
• Perform other duties as assigned by Landsat Cal/Val Team Lead
