Blackjack Natural Resources is seeking a highly motivated Senior Land Technician to support the land and broader team efforts of the company. In this role, the Senior Land Technician will work directly with land and other disciplines to assist in maintaining land records, drilling preparation, and Blackjack’s routine daily oil and gas activities. Responsibilities will cover working on oil and gas contract review, lease processing, royalty owner and partner correspondence, information and data management, map preparation, broker and invoice tracking, and drilling/well reporting.
Responsibilities
- Track and manage land related deadlines and projects
- Evaluate and implement land system software
- Jointly maintain land records with land administration, division orders, and/or third-party vendors
- Prepare and propose AFEs to partners for new drilling and workover activities
- Prepare division of interest spreadsheets to assist in well deck changes, and/or new well setup
- Interface with accounting regarding all land payments (lease, contract obligations, surface, etc.)
- Organize and maintain all land records and file storage both physical and digital
- Assist in project management and reporting regarding acquisitions and divestitures, new well preparation, and election deadlines
- Provide open communication within the office and assist outside parties when needed
- Facilitate land PowerPoint slide preparation and formatting for internal and external presentations
- Collaborate with land, engineering, accounting, GIS, finance, geoscience, and operations teams to ensure integrated workflows and consistent information reporting
- Train and mentor less experienced personnel
- Proactively recommend changes and improvements for processes and methods
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 5+ years of experience in a land technician role within the oil and gas industry
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Proactive and creative approach to problem solving
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across disciplines
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10+ years of experience in a land technician role within the oil and gas industry
- Experience with Land system software such as Quorum, LandVantage, Peloton, or other
- Experience with GIS related software such as QGIS or ArcGIS
