Job summary

Pioneer Technical Services, a part of MacKay, seeks a Professional Land Surveyor-Project Manager to lead our survey team in Butte, MT, with regional travel 50–75%. You’ll conduct field surveys, prepare reports, and provide accurate data for engineering and construction projects.

The ideal candidate has a Montana PLS license or ability to obtain, 5+ years of project management in surveying, and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble software.

Qualifications

• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Montana or ability to obtain it.
• 5+ years of experience managing survey projects.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering or related field.
• Extensive knowledge of surveying principles, practices, and equipment (GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey software (Trimble Business Center).
• Ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• MS Word, Excel and databases proficiency.
• Ability to lead and mentor field crews and office staff.
• Valid Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct land surveys using GPS, total stations, and levels.
• Prepare and maintain field notes, sketches, and survey reports.
• Analyze survey data to determine land features’ shape, contour, and elevation.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams.
• Oversee field and office survey teams and provide technical guidance.
• Perform boundary and topographic surveys and construction staking.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and safety protocols.
• Create maps and plans with CAD/Geospatial software.
• Verify survey data accuracy and calculations.
• Research property boundaries and titles.
