Job summary

Water & Environmental Technologies (WET), headquartered in Butte, Montana, is seeking a skilled Professional Land Surveyor to lead surveying projects across Montana and the Western US. You will supervise field crews, ensure data accuracy, and prepare survey reports and maps that support engineering and construction.

The ideal candidate holds a PLS license in Montana, has 7–10 years of experience, and demonstrates leadership, project management, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a surveying/geomatics/civil engineering field.
• Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) preferred in Montana.
• 7–10 years of progressive land surveying experience.
• Strong proficiency with modern surveying tools and software.
• Excellent understanding of land laws, boundary resolution and mapping standards.
• Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee all aspects of land surveying projects.
• Conduct boundary, topographic, construction, and as‑built surveys.
• Lead field survey teams with technical guidance and mentorship.
• Analyze and interpret survey data, legal records, and docs.
• Prepare and review survey drawings, plats, and legal descriptions.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Use instruments (total stations, GPS, drones, levels) and software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson, Leica Infinity).
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, planners, and construction teams.
• Maintain accurate survey records and documentation.
• Perform quality control and resolve boundary discrepancies.
• Support proposal preparation and project estimation when required.
