Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a Senior Land Design Engineer to join our southeast engineering team. The role involves civil design across site layout, grading, drainage, and utilities, with coordination across architectural and MEP disciplines.

The position offers a hybrid office setup in Raleigh, NC; Charlotte, NC; or Atlanta, GA, with opportunities to work on multi-disciplinary projects in industrial, commercial, solar, and mining sectors.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Self-starter who can work independently and with a team
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong organization and prioritization abilities
• Proactive troubleshooting and client-focused solutions
• Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals
• 3–8+ years of civil engineering experience
• Computer proficiency: AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, MS Office

Responsibilities

• Complete civil engineering designs and prepare professional plans and specifications, calculations, exhibits, and reports
• Develop site layouts, grading, drainage, and utility designs
• Coordinate with Architects, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineers
• Perform field visits, scoping with survey crews, SUE, and Geotech teams
• Provide periodic construction support: RFIs, shop drawings, inspections
• Assist with municipal and state permitting
