Job summary

Upstart is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own Lakehouse infrastructure and security across environments, including a regulated Upstart Bank setup.

You will optimize costs, automate audits for OCC/SOX/SOC, and push for least-privilege access, IAM and data classifications, while collaborating with Data, Security, and Compliance teams.

This role supports a digital-first company with US-wide teams and on-site collaboration opportunities in major markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or data platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience with lakehouses or big data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, Delta Lake, Iceberg).
• Hands-on experience with AWS (IAM, S3, EC2, EKS), Python, IaC (Terraform/CDK), CI/CD, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Own Lakehouse infrastructure across environments, including regulated Upstart Bank, with IaC expansion and no-click-ops policy.
• Drive compliance automation for OCC, SOX, SOC audits across access, change management, and data quality.
• Reduce Databricks and AWS spend via cost attribution, pruning, and optimizations like Graviton and spot instances.
