Job summary

Upstart seeks a Senior Data Platform Engineer to own Lakehouse infrastructure and security across environments, including a regulated Upstart Bank setup. You’ll expand infrastructure as code, enforce no-click-ops, and implement robust access controls while collaborating with Data Engineering, ML, Analytics, Compliance, and Security to drive reliability and cost efficiency.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on Databricks/AWS experience, Terraform/CDK, CI/CD, and Kubernetes in a fast-paced,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in CS or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or data platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience with lakehouse platforms (Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, Iceberg).
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (IAM, S3, EC2, EKS) and IaC tools (Terraform or CDK), CI/CD, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Own Lakehouse infrastructure across multiple environments, including regulated environments; implement infrastructure as code and security controls.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, ML, Analytics, Compliance, and Security to improve reliability and security of platform.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize cloud/data platform usage (compute rightsizing, Graviton, spot instances, archival).
