PDF Solutions in Milpitas seeks an experienced software engineer to design and implement machine control software for an Electron Beam Microscope based metrology tool. The role emphasizes LabVIEW development, hardware control, data acquisition, and GUI design with a focus on reliability and efficiency.

Relocation to the San Francisco South Bay is required. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US and willing to travel for tool installation and support several times a year.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Computer/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or BS with equivalent work experience.
• Strong analytical abilities, esp. in numeric algorithms and physics.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW development for GUI and time critical apps.
• Strong hands-on skills in hardware control software and troubleshooting.
• Min 4+ years of software development experience in machine control using LabVIEW (Semiconductor industry preferred).
• Proficient in object-oriented development concepts.
• Experience setting up small business network configurations: Windows OS, Domain, switches/routers, NAS, RAID.
• Basic exposure to Linux; Python a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; self-motivated and delivery-focused.

Responsibilities

• Architect software for an Electron Beam Microscope metrology tool.
• Research and prototype control algorithms and calibration methods.
• Support tool control software design, installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Mentor team members on architecture components.
• Coordinate internal/external engineering resources and document procedures.
• Develop machine control software for capital equipment and data analysis.
• Write LabVIEW code and higher-level automation software.
• Develop intuitive GUI and document code against technical specs.
