Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals Metropolitan seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to perform routine tests, maintain equipment, and ensure quality control across a large laboratory operation. The role includes oversight of personnel and participation in proficiency testing to meet city, state, and federal regulations.

Minimum NYSED licensure is required; HIPAA/PHI knowledge and strong lab safety practices are essential for daily operations in a busy metropolitan lab setting.

Qualifications

• Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist issued by the NYSED.
• Experience in clinical laboratory operations preferred.
• Ability to supervise and maintain quality control programs.
• Knowledge of lab safety and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine clinical laboratory tests and procedures for diagnosis and treatment on specimens submitted to the laboratory.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment, and performs quality control procedures.
• Participates in internal and external programs of quality control and proficiency testing, as required by regulatory agencies.
• Prepares reports, makes entries on charts, and maintains data and other records on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
• May oversee, monitor, and/or review the work of subordinate personnel as required.
• Directs all operations of a group of laboratories providing diagnostic services.
