As a Senior Laboratory Technician for the Protective and Marine Coatings, Product Development Group, you will provide a wide variety of routine, non-routine, complex to very complex technical responsibilities in support of professional scientific activities. You will work in concert with chemists and other professionals to conduct testing, and document results involving the use of learned skills.

As part of your primary duties, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of laboratory testing equipment and for ensuring all instruments are calibrated and are functioning properly. You will also spent much of your time working in a Research and Development lab setting where you will do hands on coatings formulation, application and testing.

You will work on-site at our Harmar, PA facility and report directly to the S&T Product Development Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety first attitude for every task assigned. Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations, including active 5S practices.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment and ensure all instruments are calibrated and functioning properly.
  • Perform tests on paint/coatings samples, including viscosity, color matching, durability, and adhesion, following standard written work instructions.
  • Prepare and mix paint/coatings samples according to defined formulations and Quality Control specifications.
  • Collaborate with PMC chemists on Atmospheric Protection, Flooring and Polyurea Product Development projects, analyze experimental data and record findings accordingly.
  • Safely use hazardous materials every day, follow strict safety precautions and wear personal protective equipment, including the use of respirators when recommended by SDS and standard procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all PPG policies and business strategies, including EH&S, business conduct, code of ethics, and all government regulations and laws.
