Job summary

Jefferson County is seeking a Labor Relations Specialist to advise leadership and HR on labor and employee relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws and agreements. The role supports negotiations, grievance handling, and dispute resolution to foster fair, respectful workplaces.

The LTE position runs up to two years with potential conversion, scheduled 40 hours weekly, and includes medical coverage options for employees and dependents. Salary ranges from $69,405 to $111,049 USD annually.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in labor relations, employee relations, human resources, or a related field.
• Experience supporting collective bargaining environments.
• Experience managing grievances, investigations, and dispute resolution processes.
• Experience advising leaders on labor and employment matters.

Responsibilities

• Labor Relations Strategy: Advise leaders and HR partners on policies, practices, and risk mitigation.
• Collective Bargaining Support: Prepare for and participate in collective bargaining negotiations; analyze contract language.
• Grievance and Dispute Resolution: Investigate complaints and disputes; partner with managers and unions to resolve concerns.
• Contract Administration: Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements; provide guidance on provisions and discipline.
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations; document activities and respond to inquiries.
• Leadership and Employee Support: Coach leaders; facilitate discussions; train on labor relations topics.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Use workforce data to inform strategy; prepare reports for senior leadership.
