Job summary

Contra Costa County is seeking a Senior Labor Relations Analyst to join the Labor Relations team. Under general direction, the analyst will advise departments, participate in complex negotiations, and handle grievance processes, arbitration prep, and training in a dynamic county setting.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least three years of labor relations/HR experience, with JD preferred. Travel within the county and occasional evenings may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial psychology, business or public administration, labor relations, human resources, or organizational development (JD preferred).
• Three years of full-time professional labor relations and/or human resources experience.
• Experience in labor contract negotiations, contract administration, and handling of grievances preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide labor relations advice to operating departments.
• Participate in complex contract negotiations, contract administration, grievance handling, arbitration preparation, and training.
• Represent the Labor Relations Division in communications with labor organizations, County departments, other agencies and the public.
• Investigate grievances, confer with employees and labor representatives, research facts and past practices, and negotiate settlements.
