Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Corporate Counsel for Labor & Employment to support our labor strategy in a highly unionized manufacturing environment. You will provide practical, business-minded advice on contract negotiations, CBA interpretation, investigations, leaves, and wage-hour issues while partnering with HR, Labor Relations, and Operations.

The role reports to the Associate General Counsel for Labor, Employment & Immigration, and offers a comprehensive benefits package, bonus

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• 8+ years of management-side labor law experience.
• In-house legal or significant client counseling experience.
• Experience advising on labor relations strategy in a multi-site or matrixed organization.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. labor and employment laws including NLRA and related statutes.
• Experience drafting and negotiating CBAs, labor policies, and related labor documents.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice on labor and employment matters, focusing on unionized operations.
• Develop collective bargaining strategy, conduct contract negotiations, and draft/interpret CBAs.
• Support grievance management, arbitration strategy, and labor dispute resolution.
• Collaborate with HR, Labor Relations, and Operations on day-to-day labor issues and workforce practices.
• Develop and maintain relationships with Union Leadership.
• Provide training to support labor relations objectives.
• Counsel on investigations, leaves, accommodations, wage/hour issues, and other workplace matters.
• Manage labor and employment litigation and outside counsel as needed.
• Monitor legal developments and update practices accordingly.
