  • Support negotiation strategies and participate in collective bargaining preparations, including drafting proposals and analyzing contract language.
  • Collaborate with labor relations teams and outside counsel on grievance arbitrations, mediation, and dispute resolution.
  • Employment Law Compliance: Provide counsel on compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws (e.g., NLRA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, FLSA, EEO laws).
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting manufacturing operations; recommend policy updates or process improvements.
  • Support the development and implementation of legally compliant workplace policies, employee handbooks, and training initiatives.
  • Workplace Investigations & Risk Mitigation: Conduct or advise on internal investigations involving employee complaints, misconduct, safety issues, or harassment.
  • Evaluate risk and provide recommended actions aligned with company policies and union contracts.
  • Advise on disciplinary actions, terminations, and performance issues.
  • Union Engagement & Strategy: Partner with Labor Relations Manager or HR leadership to promote productive union-management relationships.
  • Assist in preparing documentation and cases for arbitration or NLRB matters.
  • Support strategies to maintain labor harmony and reduce operational disruptions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Operations, Safety, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment between legal requirements and business objectives.
  • Assist in delivering manager and supervisor training on labor and employment topics.
Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in labor and employment law; prior experience with unionized workforces strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, logistics, or similar environments is a plus.
