Baltimore City Department of Law is seeking a highly qualified Labor and Employment Chief Solicitor to join the City’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. The role focuses on dispute resolution in court and before administrative agencies, with substantial responsibilities in litigation strategy and legal guidance to City agencies.

Ideal candidates will have extensive probate experience; strong advocacy, research and writing skills, and the ability to manage complex matters with minimal support.

Qualifications

• Requires a law degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Maryland Bar is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of litigation experience, including trial experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead role defending the City’s interests in a broad range of labor and employment matters.
• Gather and review relevant documents and electronic information across the city; develop litigation strategy.
• Research and draft motions, pleadings and position statements; depose witnesses and handle investigations before agencies like EEOC.
