Job summary

UL Solutions in Northbrook, IL seeks a Senior Laboratory Technician to execute accurate testing, maintain equipment, and ensure quality compliance. You will work closely with engineers, read schematics, and train staff in test methods.

Qualifications

• Two years university education in related discipline or engineering or four-year degree in another field.
• Strong technical proficiency and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
• Desire to work in a team-oriented environment and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Examines test samples and reads measuring instruments, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions.
• Evaluates test performance and reviews data with supervisor and lab work requestor.
• Operates with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility.
• Directs, builds and/or adapts setup and test equipment to new situations.
• Trains staff in test setups and test methods.
• Initiates recommendations for new equipment designs and solutions to test problems.
• Operates designated machines and special laboratory equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area.
• Records observed or calculated data on UL forms and prepares data sheets and test reports.
• Plans tests, evaluates results and reports opinions and interpretations.
