Job summary

START Research, the START Center for Cancer Research, seeks a Senior Laboratory Technician to support phase 1 oncology trials at our Fort Worth facility. This on-site role collaborates with the Labs and PK team to ensure accurate specimen handling and strict adherence to SOPs under supervision.

Work is Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm with on-call weekend rotation. Responsibilities include labeling, processing, storage, CLIA‑waived testing, quality control, and timely reporting of results while

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate specimen labeling, documentation, chain of custody, handling, processing, storage, packaging, and shipment.
• Evaluate specimens against written acceptability criteria and identify concerns that may affect specimen integrity.
• Perform centrifugation, aliquoting, processing, storage, and shipment preparation for clinical and research specimens.
• Perform CLIA-waived, point‑of-care, and other specifically authorized laboratory testing.
• Operate approved point‑care analyzers and laboratory equipment according to procedures.
• Review analyzer alerts, error codes, and quality control results; suspend testing when criteria are not met.
• Prepare specimens to send to external laboratory vendors.
• Enter, document, or transmit laboratory results according to procedures.
• Review results for completeness and escalate critical findings as needed.
• Notify the ordering provider of critical results per notification procedures.
• Maintain required nursing, laboratory, and competency records.
• Follow site policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Support laboratory readiness for inspections and audits.
