Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an Engineering Technician III (S) for the Materials and Tests (M&T) Unit Central Laboratory in Raleigh. This hands-on role conducts routine tests on cementitious materials and metals, following AASHTO/ASTM methods and ensuring QA for road materials.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in engineering technology, survey technology, or related field with three years of progressively responsible technician experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
• Knowledge of concrete, cementitious materials, and metals testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine material tests and evaluations in a laboratory to provide QA for materials used in NC roadways.
• Maintain qualification and testing to support the lab's accreditation.
• Coordinate time-sensitive testing and manage specimen and data integrity.
• Prepare reports and document test results.
