Job summary

Eaton’s Fuel Emissions team is seeking a Lead Technician on the Southfield, MI campus. The Lab Technician will operate laboratory equipment to assemble, test, and assess automotive fuel system components per test requests.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of lab or testing experience, with overtime possible. The role emphasizes safety, data accuracy, and effective communication with leadership and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma and/or GED from an accredited institution.
• Minimum two (2) years of laboratory and/or testing experience.
• Eaton will not sponsor immigration for this position; no CPT/OPT/STEM OPT, etc.
• No relocation is available; candidates within 50 miles of Southfield, MI will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, organized, and functional work area.
• Support sample procurement by working with lab/prototype coordinators and suppliers.
• Set-up and operate engineering equipment as indicated in test requests.
• Prepare samples and perform tests according to test procedures and instructions.
• Communicate test progress and problems to requestor and leadership.
• Trouble-shoot and repair fixtures as needed to complete test requests.
• Collect and report data accurately with clear results.
• Perform operations and adjustments with various tools as required.
• Handle Stoddard, Gasoline and other fuels and chemicals following safe practices.
• Motivated with strong organizational skills for largely unsupervised completion of test plans.
• Overtime will vary based on project workload (5-10 hours per week).
