Job summary

SIMCO Electronics seeks an experienced Operations Manager to direct the commercial calibration and repair laboratory. You will oversee technical operations, customer service, shipping, quality, and drivers, with the authority to guide others and drive strategic improvements.

Responsibilities include managing the lab to budget, maintaining accreditations, and supporting sales efforts while optimizing asset use. Strong leadership, budgeting, and communications skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a technical service group in calibration/repair or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years in Calibration and Repair with formal training in physical dimensional, RF/Microwave, and test equipment; PMEL or similar training desirable.
• At least 4 years of supervision/management experience.
• At least 2 years of proven P&L management and lab budgeting experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• MS Office proficiency required for reporting and budgeting.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead and set an example in line with SIMCO’s mission.
• Manage laboratory operations to achieve budgeted financial objectives (P&L).
• Oversee staff, including technical and administrative personnel.
• Maintain accreditation scope (UKAS, KEMA, ISO/IEC 17025) and expand lab capabilities.
• Improve process efficiency to reduce costs and support sales and operations.
• Support service performance aligned with corporate objectives and resolve TMDE issues.
• Manage lab assets to maximize utilization and plan capacity.
• Assist Regional Director/VP on initiatives and projects.
• Provide justification for asset acquisitions.
