Job summary

AbbVie in Madison, WI seeks a Senior Software Instrumentation Engineer to develop software for internal peptide array synthesizers and laboratory instruments. You will interface Linux-based C++ software with sensors, actuators, pumps, motors, cameras, and other devices to improve instrument performance and data visibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, Master's with 8+ or PhD with no additional experience.
  • Proficiency in C and C++ development in a Linux environment.
  • Strong understanding of object lifecycles and manual memory management in C/C+.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain Linux-based software for peptide array synthesizers and instrumentation.
  • Develop and integrate machine-control software for sensors, actuators, pumps, motors, cameras, and devices.
  • Apply software engineering expertise across architecture, programming, data integration, and visualization.
  • Define and execute software testing and validation activities for reliability and maintainability.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead technical initiatives within an Agile team.
