Job summary

Twist Bioscience is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team onsite in Wilsonville, OR. You will lead development, validation, and integration of automated laboratory instrumentation and bioprocess technologies, bridging hardware, software, and biology to drive operational excellence and product quality under ISO 13485.

You will design automated workflows, write integration scripts, and connect robotic systems with enterprise LIMS to support scalable synthesis and data management.

Qualifications

• PhD/MS with 3 years (BS with 5 years) in Biomedical/Engineering.
• Experience developing automated instrumentation for bioprocesses.
• Experience with DoE for testing and troubleshooting of processes.
• Experience designing/writing scripts (C#, Python) for lab automation systems.
• Experience with sample tracking software and interfaces between robotic instruments and LIMS (MES/Maestro, Twist build).
• Strong data analysis and computational skills.
• Hands-on skills to assemble and maintain hardware.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and release new processes to improve cost-effectiveness and product quality.
• Develop and test protocols, scripts, and systems to automate bioprocesses.
• Operate and maintain laboratory automation instruments and cross-integration systems.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to troubleshoot equipment and systems.
• Prepare documentation, knowledge transfer, and training activities.
• Follow regulatory and ISO 13485 requirements.
