Job summary

Texas Oncology is looking for a Sr. Lab Assistant to join our Dallas laboratory team. The role involves collecting and processing specimens, performing analyses, maintaining equipment and quality controls, and supporting patient flow under CLIA guidelines.

Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate has a background in phlebotomy, specimen handling, and laboratory procedures, with progressive levels of experience in a clinical lab environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Entry level; no experience required at Level 1.
• Level 2 requires a minimum of three years laboratory experience.
• Level Sr requires a minimum of five years laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects appropriate specimens from patients as ordered.
• Maintains documentation as described by the quality assurance program.
• Performs specimen analysis of chemistry, hematology, and immunology as directed.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures viability for testing.
• Preps patients as necessary (e.g., taking vital signs).
• Performs testing procedures according to guidelines and QA standards.
• Sends specimens to reference labs for testing not performed in-house.
• Updates and files daily paperwork and lab logs.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment per SOPs.
• Performs phlebotomy and sample collection as needed.
