Texas Oncology is seeking a Lab Assistant Sr to join the Dallas team. Hours are 8:00a-4:30p, Monday-Friday, at the Dallas, TX location. The role entails collecting and processing specimens, documenting results, instrument maintenance, QA, and safety compliance.
Under direct supervision, duties include patient flow, phlebotomy, sample collection, specimen analysis, and keeping detailed logs and charts. Regular exposure to clinical lab environment with strict safety standards.

Under direct supervision, the Lab Assistant is responsible for collecting and processing specimens from patients, documenting results according to established procedures, assisting with performing specimen analysis, instrument maintenance, and quality control procedures, and following quality assurance and safety policies. They also assist with patient flow, properly identify patients, draw blood samples, send to laboratory for analysis, maintain collection areas and equipment, and perform record-keeping duties.
Level 1: High School diploma or equivalent required. Position is entry level and requires no experience.
Level 2 (in addition to Level 1 requirements): Minimum three years laboratory experience.
Level Sr (in addition to Level 1 and 2 requirements): Minimum five years laboratory experience.
Physical demands typical include full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, sitting/standing for extensive periods, use of hands, fingers, arms to reach or carry, occasionally lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs, corrected vision, color perception and hearing within normal range, and legible handwriting.
The work environment includes regular exposure to direct contact with patients with potential for exposure to blood/body fluids, chemotherapeutic agents, or transmittable infections, direct contact with corrosive chemicals, infectious agents, handling glassware, needles and open flames.
