Job summary

Divergent in Torrance, CA is seeking a Senior Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer to advance Laser Powder Bed Fusion capabilities and drive cost-effective production of high‑quality parts. You will define scope, optimize print parameters, and work with design, manufacturing and quality teams to turn innovative concepts into robust AM solutions.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of hands-on AM, L-PBF experience, and a track record of process development, data analysis, and writing clear

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or related field
• 5+ years hands-on fabrication, assembly, testing, and/or technical project management
• 5+ years developing L-PBF equipment, process parameters, and/or print file programming
• ITAR/export controls eligibility and PPE handling requirements
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME in Laser Powder Bed Fusion to drive improvements in material capability and cost
• Define project scope, align stakeholders, prioritize resources, and communicate progress
• Characterize, control, and qualify improvements to L-PBF equipment and materials
• Develop novel print file toolpaths and process parameters using in-house software
• Utilize material qualification framework to characterize AM material properties
• Collaborate across design, manufacturing, and quality to assess feasibility and risk
• Write and maintain engineering specifications for material consistency
• Support disposition and root-cause analysis of AM quality non-conformances
