Job summary

cps4jobs in Chicago seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to advance its internal compute platform. You will build distributed services, automate provisioning, and improve reliability across a mix of physical servers, virtualization, and Kubernetes.

You will own scalability and latency improvements, collaborate with developers, and contribute to incident response and disaster recovery planning to keep critical workloads performing under demanding research and investment tasks.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience with large compute infrastructure
Strong Kubernetes cluster operations knowledge
Linux administration at scale
Python for infrastructure tooling and automation
Familiarity with server virtualization in production
Experience diagnosing latency and tuning performance

Responsibilities

Develop distributed services and automation for provisioning compute infrastructure
Create repeatable environments via automated configuration and policy enforcement
Identify capacity, availability, and performance limitations and implement improvements
Strengthen failure recovery and reduce operational dependencies
Evaluate and integrate commercial and open-source technologies
Collaborate with developers to translate workload requirements into infrastructure capabilities
Share responsibility for production support, maintenance, and incident response
