Job summary

Senior Platform Engineer

We are an established global financial firm adding an experienced platform engineer to help develop and expand its internal computing platform. The environment combines physical servers, virtualization, and Kubernetes to support demanding research and investment workloads. This position blends software engineering with infrastructure ownership. You'll develop tools that coordinate compute resources, improve platform reliability, and make it easier for development teams to deploy and run their applications.

What You'll Do

• Develop distributed services and automation for provisioning and managing compute infrastructure.
• Create consistent, repeatable environments through automated configuration and policy enforcement.
• Identify capacity, availability, and performance limitations, then implement improvements.
• Strengthen failure recovery and reduce operational dependencies through resilient system design.
• Evaluate and integrate commercial products and open-source technologies.
• Collaborate with developers and internal users to translate workload requirements into infrastructure capabilities.
• Share responsibility for production support, scheduled maintenance, and incident response.

What You'll Bring

• At least six years of hands-on experience supporting substantial compute infrastructure.
• Strong Kubernetes knowledge, including cluster operations and the needs of applications running on the platform.
• Experience administering Linux and managing physical server fleets at scale.
• Python programming skills for infrastructure tooling and automation.
• Familiarity with server virtualization and its operation in production environments.
• Experience diagnosing latency issues and tuning system and network performance.
• Working knowledge of IP routing and network troubleshooting.
• Experience developing recovery procedures and maintaining continuity for critical services.
