Job summary

Cherokee Federal seeks a Senior Kubernetes Engineer to design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes workloads in AWS EKS, ensuring scalable, reliable, and secure operations across microservices. You will automate deployment, monitor health, and collaborate on CI/CD pipelines with cross-functional teams.

The role demands strong Kubernetes expertise, Docker experience, and proficiency with Helm, Kustomize, Grafana, and Istio, plus the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems or CS.
• Strong Kubernetes knowledge including pods, services and deployments.
• Experience with AWS EKS and Docker containerization.
• Familiarity with Helm and Kustomize for config management.
• Experience with Grafana and Istio for observability.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Knowledge of security best practices, networks, and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Kubernetes deployments for cloud microservices on AWS EKS.
• Automate deployment and scaling to improve efficiency.
• Monitor cluster health, troubleshoot issues, ensure availability and performance.
• Collaborate with development teams to support CI/CD pipelines and best practices.
• Implement security controls, including network policies and DR processes.
• Manage containerized apps and related Kubernetes infrastructure.
• Utilize Helm and Kustomize to manage the application layer.
• Use Grafana and Istio for observability and service mesh insights.
• Diagnose complex issues and stay current with new Kubernetes features.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams; perform other duties as assigned.
