Job summary

J.Crew seeks a Director of Technical Design - Women’s Denim, Hard & Soft Wovens to lead a team of technical designers and patternmakers. You will own fit, construction, and quality standards across Denim, Hard Wovens, and Soft Wovens, partnering with Design, Production, and Merchandising to translate creative vision into brand-right product.

You will mentor talent, drive design-to-production processes, and advance PLM workflows while maintaining calendar and cost targets across two brands.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive technical design experience in apparel, with denim and woven focus.
• Proven track record building high-performing design teams and mentoring multiple levels.
• Strong ability to translate creative vision into technical execution with brand integrity.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Technical Designers and patternmakers across denim and wovens.
• Partner with Design, Production, Materials, and Merchandising to ensure design intent is realized.
• Own end-to-end fit and construction standards for Denim, Hard Wovens, and Soft Wovens.
• Drive efficient development from proto through final approval, within calendar/cost targets.
• Advance PLM workflows and technical design systems to improve scalability.
