Are you ready to take true ownership of your projects and lead a team where your design expertise directly shapes real-world commercial spaces? At PM Design, we don't just build construction documents, we build leaders.

As a Sr. Job Captain, you are the backbone of our operations. You will drive projects from initial planning through permitting and construction, acting as the primary point of contact for jurisdictions and leading structural collaboration. This isn’t a role where you get lost in the background; you will actively mentor your own team of designers, manage project budgets, and maintain high standards of quality that protect and elevate our client partnerships.

If you are a driven, highly organized Revit or AutoCAD expert looking for a fast-paced environment that prioritizes your continuous professional growth, we want you on our team.

What You’ll Do
Project Ownership & Execution
  • Lead Drawings: Coordinate and develop comprehensive commercial construction documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Drive Permitting: Prepare applications and act as the primary contact for local jurisdictions to clear plan checks smoothly.
  • Manage Consultants: Oversee base files, coordinate progress drawings, and compile stamped sets for architectural cover sheets.
  • Conduct Field Work: Take a hands-on approach with site visits, as-built surveys, accessibility reviews, and construction administration.
  • Protect Quality: Submit your projects to our dedicated QA/QC team, ensuring flawless fire, life safety, and building code compliance.
  • Empower Designers: Direct, review, and redline the work of Architectural Designers and Senior Architectural Designers.
  • Foster Growth: Actively mentor support staff to help them improve their skills and advance their careers.
  • Delegate Effectively: Distribute tasks strategically to draft and administrative staff to optimize project speed.
Business & Client Management
  • Track Financials: Monitor overall project budgets, provide hourly budget estimates to support staff, and update weekly completion percentages to keep projects profitable.
  • Lead Communication: Act as a direct point of contact for clients on CD and permit questions, responding within a target 24-to-48-hour window.
  • Support Growth: Assist the management team with project proposals by estimating required CAD hours, attend project meetings, and bring forward business development ideas for existing or new clients.
  • Administer Operations: Manage purchase orders, notify your manager of workload changes to protect billable targets, and complete billable timesheets accurately and timely.
What You Bring to the Team
  • 5+ years of professional experience producing and coordinating commercial architectural construction documents.
  • Technical Mastery: Exceptional proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Commercial Knowledge: Solid background in detailing wall sections and building elements across various commercial project types.
  • Code Literacy: A foundational understanding of general building, fire safety, and accessibility codes.
  • Agility: The ability to stay organized and balance multiple projects efficiently in a high-energy environment.
  • Growth Mindset: A desire to continuously ask questions, seek continuing education, and improve both technical and managerial skills.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
  • True Autonomy: Take full ownership of assigned tasks and projects with a supportive management structure backing you up.
  • A Culture That Cares: Work within an environment that explicitly champions ethical standards, moral objectives, and positive cultural values.
  • Clear Paths for Advancement: Your performance is measurable and recognized through billable target achievements, budget management success, and internal QA excellence.
  • Continuous Learning: We actively support your journey into advanced managerial and technical subjects to pave the way for your next promotion.
