Job summary

Knowledge Builders Inc is seeking a Senior Software Developer to support the NYS Tax Modernization program in Albany. You will work on modernizing legacy systems within the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance, focusing on tax-related applications and data processing.

The role requires deep experience with J2EE, Spring, JDBC, and XML, and involves designing, coding, testing, and mentoring staff across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• 60 months experience with J2EE technologies including JDBC, JSP and XML.
• 60 months experience developing, building, and testing Java EE applications using IDEs such as Eclipse, NetBeans, or IntelliJ.
• 60 months experience using J2EE frameworks such as Spring or Struts and application servers such as Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere or WebLogic.
• 60 months experience writing SQL statements for relational databases.
• 60 months of experience in system analysis and design of software architecture with multi-layer structure.
• 36 months of experience in messaging technologies (MQ, JMS, Kafka).

Responsibilities

• Obtain business requirements to develop automated applications meeting business priorities.
• Provide programming duties for tax-related applications.
• Develop and mentor staff using technologies including J2EE, Spring, JSON, JavaScript and JDBC.
• Develop and review detailed documentation for system change requirements.
• Assist and guide through all phases of the project management life cycle.
• Develop unit test plans and conduct unit testing in development environment.
• Coordinate migration of code changes from development to user test environment.
• Support staff with Java, DB2, XML and XQuery; mentor team members.
• Provide defect resolution support and prioritize issues by urgency.
• Facilitate meetings with ITS and DTF customers.
• Communicate with management, users, ITS, and team members.
