Concept Solutions, LLC (CS) seeks a Senior Java Software Engineer to sustain and modernize a DoW program in Reston, VA. The role centers on enterprise Java development, cloud readiness, and integration with a unified modernization platform.

The candidate will maintain a production stack (Spring Boot, React, PostgreSQL) hosted in AWS ECS/Fargate, support releases, on-call incidents, and security/compliance activities while advancing platform capabilities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of enterprise Java development experience with Spring Boot.
• Strong SQL, PostgreSQL, and RESTful API expertise.
• Experience operating and supporting production applications in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with formal change management processes and privileged-access security controls.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a production Java Spring Boot/React/PostgreSQL app, containerized with AWS ECS/Fargate.
• Manage defects, security patches, and production releases for reliability.
• Support API Gateway syncing with a Pega-based status tracker.
• Implement integrations with the modernization platform (identity-provider trust, deep linking, feed access).
• Maintain runbooks and sustainment baselines.
• Participate in on-call rotation for Severity 1 incidents.
• Identify and remediate security findings to maintain compliance.

Job description

Concept Solutions, LLC (CS) is seeking an experienced Senior Java Software Engineer to support a mission-critical application modernization program for a Department of War (DoW) customer.

This initiative focuses on creating a unified platform that provides seamless access across multiple production applications through a single sign-on experience, a shared user interface, and a standardized approach to application integration.

The selected candidate will play a key role in sustaining existing applications while implementing enhancements that enable their integration into the modernized platform. This position requires strong enterprise Java development expertise, production application support experience, and the ability to work within secure, cloud-based environments.

Application Sustainment and Engineering

• Maintain and support a production application built with Java Spring Boot, React, and PostgreSQL, containerized using AWS ECS/Fargate.
• Manage application defects, security patches, and production releases while maintaining system reliability.
• Support API Gateway synchronization with a Pega-based status tracking system.
• Implement application-side integrations with the modernization platform, including identity-provider trust, deep linking, redeem endpoints, and feed access.
• Maintain operational runbooks and application sustainment baselines.
• Participate in the Severity 1 on-call rotation to address critical production incidents.
• Identify and remediate security findings to maintain compliance and operational readiness.

What we're looking for

• 7+ years of experience in enterprise Java development using Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, and RESTful APIs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with React.
• Experience with AWS ECS/Fargate and AWS GovCloud.
• Experience integrating applications with Pega.
• Current favorably adjudicated Tier 5 investigation or active Top Secret clearance.

Work Location and Schedule

• Location: Hybrid. Based at CS headquarters in Reston, VA, and approved remote locations within the United States, with on-site work at Government facilities in Northern Virginia and Maryland as required.
• Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern.
• Development Cycle: Two-week sprints, including a customer demonstration each sprint.
• Travel: 0–10% within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
• Security Requirement: U.S. citizenship required. Candidates must hold a current favorably adjudicated Tier 5 investigation or Top Secret clearance, or be eligible to obtain one. An active clearance may allow for an earlier start.
• Government Systems Access: Government-furnished equipment is required for all access to Government environments.
• Compensation: $170,000–$180,000 base salary, depending on experience.
• This position is contingent upon contract award, with an anticipated start in October 2026.
