Job summary

TriCom Technical Services seeks a senior full-stack Java engineer to join a small development team in Kansas City, MO. You will support and extend applications across modern and legacy Java environments, with data-intensive Oracle backend and Angular front-end tasks. The role focuses on Java development (Java 8+), Spring Boot, JPA, and Oracle SQL, with opportunities to work across the full stack in a contract engagement lasting 12 months.

U.S. work authorization required.

Job description

Position Overview

This senior full-stack Java engineer will join a small development team supporting and extending applications across a mix of modern and legacy Java environments. Current work includes annual code and metadata maintenance along with additional new development. The applications are data-intensive and rely heavily on Oracle, making Java development and complex SQL central to the role. Angular support is also part of the work but is not the primary focus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance Java applications across Spring Boot/JPA services and existing legacy Java applications.


• Write, analyze, and troubleshoot complex Oracle SQL supporting data-intensive and metadata-driven application logic.


• Maintain and support Angular/TypeScript front-end components within the broader full-stack environment.


• Troubleshoot application issues, remediate dependencies and CVEs, and work within established code-quality and security gates.


• Work independently on assigned development while collaborating with the team on problem-solving, code review, and daily standups.

Required Experience

• Senior-level hands-on Java development experience with Java 8 or newer, Spring Boot, and JPA/persistence.


• Strong Oracle SQL experience, including the ability to write, analyze, and break down complex queries.
  
• Experience developing or supporting both modern and legacy Java applications.


• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving ability, including working independently, communicating blockers, and collaborating with other engineers.

Preferred Experience

• Experience maintaining legacy Java web applications using JSP, JSF, PrimeFaces, JBoss, or metadata stored in Oracle tables.


• Experience with JUnit/TDD, Maven or Gradle, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, IntelliJ, Kiro, or other AI-assisted development tools.


• Exposure to Snowflake or insurance/financial regulatory data environments.
