Job summary

You will mentor peers and contribute to secure, resilient backend systems while advancing cloud transformation initiatives with modern tech stacks like Kafka, MongoDB Atlas, and IaC tooling.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience building enterprise apps.
• Hands-on Java development with Spring Boot/Framework and build tools.
• Cloud-native experience on Google Cloud Platform with Kubernetes is ideal.

Agility Partners is seeking a qualified Senior Java Engineer to fill an open position with one of our clients in the financial services industry. This is an exciting opportunity to work on enterprise-scale, cloud-native applications leveraging modern Java technologies, Google Cloud Platform, and event-driven architectures. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing and building highly scalable microservices, APIs, and integration solutions while helping drive cloud transformation initiatives. This role offers the chance to work with cutting-edge technologies including GCP, Kafka, Kubernetes, MongoDB Atlas, and Infrastructure as Code.

In this role, you will collaborate with engineering, architecture, and business teams to develop secure, resilient, and high-performing backend solutions. You will contribute to the design and implementation of cloud-native applications, event-driven systems, and automated deployment pipelines while serving as a technical mentor for development best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Build and support cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform, leveraging services such as GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Secret Manager.
• Develop and enhance event-driven integrations utilizing Apache Kafka, Confluent Cloud, and asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to implement scalable, secure, and observable enterprise applications while driving CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code best practices.

The Ideal Candidate

• 7+ years of software development experience building enterprise applications, APIs, and distributed systems.
• 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Maven, and Gradle.
• Proven experience building and deploying cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong expertise with Kubernetes, GKE, Docker, and microservices architecture design.
• Experience developing event-driven systems using Apache Kafka, Confluent Cloud, or similar streaming platforms.
• Experience working with MongoDB Atlas, NoSQL databases, and enterprise data integration patterns.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Terraform or Infrastructure as Code, Agile delivery methodologies, and DevOps practices.
